DESCRIPTION:
Laurent Gaffié has reported a vulnerability in Novell NetWare, which
can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of
Service) or potentially compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in CIFS.NLM when
processing SMB packets. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based
buffer overflow via a "Session Setup AndX" SMB packet containing an
overly long "AccountName".
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is reported in version 6.5 SP8. Prior versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Apply vendor patch.
